    My topic

My theme for this project is dreamscape. I'd like to create a scene where the lines evoke an effect of melting, almost, like Dalí's clocks, where each element fuses seamlessly with the next. Something so languid and contorted it could be right out of the imagination.

    My inspirations

My first inspiration photo is the contoured canyon by Brendan the Blob. I really like its simplicity and elegance, and its lines vary slightly in thickness and in spacing. I will try to emulate that subtlety in spacing and its simplicity.

My second photo is the mountains by Anthony Roberto. The line variation and movement is more detailed and dense than in the first photo, and I like how you can envision the edge as cut off. I will try to get that level of detail.

The third photo, my favorite one, is a dream landscape, also by Brendan the Blob. Though not as classic of a contour as the other two, it's imaginative and colorful. The white surfaces contrasted with the vertical purple lines is very nice to look at. I like how the lines aren't exactly the focus of the image, but instead create the background for the singular person, giving him a floating, anemone-like expanse of violet fibers.

    Sketches

Practice sketches I made for this project.

    Final product

I ended up doing a face that signifies movement (it's actually a gif)

    1) What is the Element of Art: Line

A line is the shortest distance between two points in space that makes up the most fundamental basis for drawing

    2) What different types of lines did you use in your drawings?

Thick/thin lines, diagonal lines, and straight lines

    3) Describe your artwork and what it looks like. Why did you choose to draw this scene/image?

I drew a three dimensional face with pure hatching in black & white that shifts in and out of motion blur (the gif doesn't play on this browser) I chose to draw this because I wanted to show the speed at which our world is moving today.

    4) How did you use your original research images as an influence in your artwork?

I used the movement of the lines.

    5) What was hardest for you?

Making sure the hatching remained consistent throughout and that I never used gradient accidentally.

    6) What do you want the audience to notice about your drawings?

Their symbolism about the ever changing nature of our identities
